Clearhead Case Study

A PR programme that raised the brand profile, reputation and position of a global content agency

About the Company

Clearhead™ is an independent Film & Video Production Agency based in Luton. They called themselves Clearhead because they believe that clear thinking and fresh perspectives spark great ideas that create chemistry between audiences and the brands they partner with.

They are a multicultural, multidisciplined team of individuals who have come together with the shared values of driving progression, empathy, being brave, embracing the future and doing what’s right.

As part of its strategy, Clearhead was looking to boost its PR profile and nurture new contacts, and to help achieve this it commissioned an ‘Adapt, Recover, Rebuild’ package from Pilkington Communications.

The Requirements

The first step was for Pilkington Communications to complete a discovery session, digging deep into Clearhead as a company and what it wanted to achieve. Following this, an action plan was created to support Clearhead in raising its brand profile and reputation within its core market sectors. Furthermore, the actions needed to strengthen the position of Clearhead as thought leaders in the industry through a PR programme focusing on four key objectives:

  • Promoting Clearhead’s experience in the education sector
  • Promoting Clearhead’s emerging focus and experience in eLearning
  • Enforcing and sharing Clearhead’s commitment to giving back and supporting the local
  • community
  • Promoting Clearhead’s support and partnership with growth brands

The Activity

The Clearhead team had been looking for media coverage in carefully selected target publications as they were confident that such press coverage would help them secure new leads and new clients. And they were right.

Pilkington Communications created a wide range of content that covered the four key objectives and it was all sent out to the relevant media. Pilkington Communications ensured that each piece of content had the right angle so that it would appeal to the publications it was targeted at. This well thought through approach secured coverage for Clearhead in the highly respected outlet FE News which swiftly prompted enquiries from UK colleges. By understanding what they wanted to achieve and having clear objectives, Pilkington Communications was able to support Clearhead in exactly the right way.

There was no specific social media plan as this wasn’t part of Clearhead’s brief, but ad hoc activity to support the PR was executed, and Pilkington Communications also supported Cleared with its submission for the SME Luton and Bedfordshire Business Awards, which resulted in the company making the finals in two categories: Entrepreneur of the Year and Business of the Year.

Outcomes and Results

Over a three month period, Clearhead was launched into new sector publications for the first time, and the company shared relevant and topical thought leadership pieces which celebrated a range of clients alongside its own expertise and experience.

Vast press coverage was secured across all the key target business and education publications. There was also great engagement levels and reach across the social media channels, with posts getting 2,500 impressions on Twitter alone over the period. Everyone was very pleased with this, especially considering that the social media work was secondary to the main PR execution.

Moving forward the company wants to continue to focus on the four key objectives and further showcase its credibility within the education sector.

The Future

The Adapt, Recover, Rebuild package from Pilkington Communications offers around 50 hours of focused PR & Communications support. Following this, when Pilkington Communications has really learnt about their client, future activity is always recommended, helping the client to keep up the momentum that the package of activity has started.
